Rounders (1998)

Rounders is a great film. But its best scene is also one of its most overlooked moments: During a friendly game, Mike McDermott (Matt Damon) and his friends become so intent on studying a card that’s not yet been dealt that they fail to see that it’s actually an ace (and therefore worth four points). Let's take all these chips and put them over here, for safekeeping, says their dealer.

Casino Royale (2006)

One of my favorite scenes is probably when James Bond arrives in Las Vegas to gamble. The scene starts out with him at a craps table where he takes on a very loud and annoying man who keeps boasting about how good he is at gambling and betting on his chances to win. Eventually, Bond’s character tells him that if they were betting actual money, he would be $140,000 richer right now because of all of his faulty bets that have been costing him more than they should.

Up in the Air (2009)

The best scenes in Up in the Air come as George Clooney, an up-and-coming motivational speaker, and Vera Farmiga, an HR exec who has never flown first class before, navigate their own midlife crises. Both want to quit it all—George because he’s bored with his job and Vera because she wants to spend more time with her two kids. But they can’t; they both have mortgages to pay.

Ocean's Eleven (2001, 2003, 2004, 2007)

Ocean's Eleven (2001) The best scenes in any of these films have to be when they gamble. Whenever someone pulls out a deck of cards, tosses them in their hands, or shows off some cool trick, you know they're a gambler. The absolute best gambling scene comes at the end of Ocean's Eleven when Andy Garcia and his crew square off against a professional card shark played by Eli Wallach on a private plane above Las Vegas.

Rain Man (1988)

There are so many scenes in Rain Man that could qualify as one of its best. But, to be honest, I think it is easiest to define it by going scene-by-scene through what happens early on in a story about autism and gambling addiction. For starters, you've got Tom Cruise's character wanting to go out for a nice steak dinner at what appears to be a 5-star restaurant.

Runner Runner (2013)

One of my favorite scenes is when Roper (Ben Affleck) and Harling (Justin Timberlake) meet in Costa Rica. The scene starts with dialogue and then transitions into an intense chase through a crowded parking lot. It’s a great scene that captures both actors at their best. Runner Runner is a fun gambling movie, but if you’re looking for suspense, try 21 instead.

8 ) Deep Run (2015 )

Deep Run is a 2015 gambling movie, and one of my favorites. It was released in 2015, but it definitely feels like it could have been made in 1992. The scenes where Nicky bets his house are far from great and don’t really qualify as the best scenes. But I did want to include them because they were pivotal points in Nicky’s life – major turning points that would forever change how he saw gambling.
