Becoming a Dad Through Single Father Surrogacy

Society doesn't always highlight the struggles and problems of single male parenting, as people think that men don't want to have kids on their own and can not even take care of one. Exactly this belief makes the process of having a child for men sometimes complicated. However, you can often find a solution for surrogate motherhood for single parent in an agency.

Single Men and Surrogacy

It is often thought that men have nothing to do with surrogacy. However, today, more and more men decide to start a family, even if they do not have a partner. It does concern gay men, who can't have their kids, and straight men who didn't find a partner yet or just want to have a child. Sometimes people do not understand what attracts men to it. Here you can find reasons why men choose to have a child with surrogacy services instead of adoption:

  1. Have a biologically connected child. For lonely men, it is the only way to have their child. Women working in the surrogacy field are especially happy to help future fathers and give birth to men that genuinely want kids.
  2. Surrogacy is a great solution for men without their partners. To start a family, a man doesn't need a woman; he should be in love with or marry. Surrogacy agencies are also created exactly for men who choose to be a single-parent, and later on, it will be their choice if they want to have contact with the surrogate or not.
  3. Prospective fathers can build a friendly relationship with the surrogate. If a man chooses to keep in touch with the surrogate after a child's birth, it is a great opportunity to become friends with her and have a lifelong relationship with them.

There are many benefits for an intended male parent, especially because it is the only way to have a future kid's genetic tie.

How The Process Looks Like For Single Parent

If we speak about prospective male parents, the process doesn't differ much from the usual surrogacy one. IVF — in vitro fertilization happens the same way as always, so the egg is fertilized by the future father's sperm to create an embryo.

The main difference here is that for couples, there is such an option as gestational surrogacy, where the surrogate isn't biologically connected to the future child. Only there can be offered traditional surrogacy for males, where there is a surrogate, and the future father cooperates, as a single-parent needs a donated egg and sperm. Gestational surrogacy for males is not available.

A surrogacy agency helps you with finding an egg donor and the surrogate herself. There is also such an option available as a known donor — it can be your friend who agreed to carry your child.

Adopting A Child Or Surrogacy — Single Parents Decide

Also, people are often having doubts about surrogacy and think whether adoption is a better option, as it is a more traditional option even though adoption is a very good thing to do, especially with the number of kids who live in orphanages. The reasons people choose surrogacy and what are the differences:

  1. Genetics decide — for single parents and lonely people, overall, surrogacy is the only legal option to have a child that is genetically theirs. And for many people, it is a turning point when it comes to genetics because all of us want a kid who's ours.
  2. Costs decide — during adoption in many countries, people get paid for taking a child from orphanages, or it doesn't cost anything. Meanwhile, surrogacy is quite an expensive thing, as surrogates often need special care, and you have to cover up all the agencies' costs that are often hard for one person to carry.
  3. Parenthood process — with adoption, many intended single parents can miss out on the first and probably the most significant moments with kids. The same applies to the pregnancy process. Many single parents can choose to be there for surrogates during their pregnancy, and it is a great advantage of surrogacy.
  4. Choose genetics — during adoption. You can't choose the genetics of your kid. In many orphanages, you won't get useful information about an embryo's ancestors. Meanwhile, surrogacy allows you to select genetics, and agencies provide you with all the needed information.

People should decide what option is the best for them, of course, and for many people, costs are the turning point, as not everyone can afford a surrogacy child. But at the end of the process, surrogacy is very rewarding — having your child is a true miracle for many people.
